GamesForCanada (GFC) Lowball Auctions - F.A.Q.:

Q1) What is a "lowball" auction?

A1) The term lowball is a popular phrase on game trading sites for an offer that is too low. A good example would be offering someone $25.00 for a brand new Nintendo Wii console. You would say to the person, "Thanks for the offer, but please no lowballs". In other words, it's a ridiculously low value for an item that is worth more. Lowball auctions however were created by a friend of mine on CAG named dv8mad. The idea is that the sale is an auction format (similar to eBay and others) but that the seller must be willing to let the items go for whatever price they end at, no matter what. Therefore no lowball offer is off limits in this sense. The original lowball sales were done on CAG forums and manually entered each time someone bid. They are a lot of fun this way, but also a LOT of work for the person running the individual auctions. For people like me who have busy schedules, I set out to create an automated system that would help simplify the repetitiveness of manually updating each forum post every time someone bids.

Q2) So you'll really send out the items, no matter how low they end up?

A2) Yup, that's pretty much the point ^_^ Hopefully, for my sake, not all the items will end dirt-cheap, but there is always the chance you could get a really good deal! Register now!

Q3) Where can I sign up? Is there any cost? Can anyone register?

A3) You can register by clicking the link here: Register now! There is no cost to join, membership is 100% FREE and listing items is also free. Again, there are no fees to be part of the GFC Lowball Auction community, so what are you waiting for? ^_^ As for who can sign up: Anyone! There is one small restriction though at this time. You must be a registered user of CAG (cheapassgamer.com) . This was the birthplace of the lowball auction and we are very tight-knit trading community. In order to have some sort of way to leave feedback and keep track of who is bidding and registering, we ask that you use the same name you have on CAG on here. That way we can instantly tell who you are, and we can avoid having spammers or scammers on the site.

Q4) Will I always need to be a CAG member to join?

A4) In the future we will be implementing our own feedback system, but for now this is the only realistic option. Please just register a free membership on CAG and use the same username on here for now. It will make things simpler for eveyrone ^_^

Q5) I accidentally bid too much on an item (ie: I bid $100 instead of $10) by mistake. Can you correct it?

A5) Please be very careful that you are entering the correct amount when you enter a bid. You will have a screen to verify your bid, so there is no excuse to say that you didn't know. I will correct it for you the first time, but after that your bid will be left standing. Members that do this often or take advantage of our system will be disqualified from future auctions. We keep logs of all bids, so we can always back track if necessary. Just be careful, type slowly and you should be fine!

Q6) The ending time for the items I'm bidding on keep changing. Why is that?

A6) The majority of items on our Lowball Auctions use a "Rolling Ending Time" system. This means that for every bid that is placed on an item, the ending time is extended by 5 minutes. This ensures that people have a chance to bid on the items they want without worrying all the time about last second bid snipers. For this reason, each bid will make the item go a little further along in terms of when it ends. This is a fair system and one that I recommend all sellers use for their own items. The option will be placed on the listing page. If you wish to have a standard ending time without the rolling, simply select the option: Rolling End Time to "NO".

Q7) Why do I see eBay items alongside the Lowball Items? Is this a mistake?

A7) Nope, it's not a mistake. One of the cool features about our system is that it allows you to list items that you have on other auction sites alongside our Lowball Sales. We do this for two reasons: First some people are skeptical about the lowball system or don't truly understand how it works. They may be more comfortable with eBay or whatever and feel better about listing more expensive items on there. That's fine! We give you the chance to list your auctions here for free which gives you a bit more exposure. Secondly, since GFC Lowball Auctions are free to use and list, we do earn a small amount of revenue from the affiliate links (eBay, Amazon, etc.) so by having eBay links here, we could potentially make back some of the server costs and such.

Q8) How can I support the site?

A8) The simplest and easiest way to support GFC Lowball Auctions is to bid on items here if you see something that you like, or to list items of your own. If you don't see anything you want then consider using our affiliate links (eBay, Amazon, etc.) to buy something that you do want. Every little bit counts :) Thanks guys!
